Meet the Founders
The company founded in 2015 is the brain child of Vivek Kejriwal, Devang Sanghvi and Pankaj Gandhi, who is also a co-founder of Chartered Cabs. It currently covers at least 100 one-way routes from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Udaipur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Surat, Mumbai, Nashik and Pune. They provide instant confirmation on these routes.
Funding & Revenue
Gujarat-based taxi service OneWay.Cab has raised $450,000 (Rs 3 crore) from Indian Angel Network (IAN) for expansion, technology upgradation and hiring. This development also sees the lead IAN investors, Ajay Gupta, head of strategy and marketing at Ericson India, joining the company’s board.
According to market estimate, India’s taxi market size is estimated at $10-12 billion, of which 65% is for outstation or inter-city travel. This is a potential market which OneWay.Cab is looking forward to capitalize on. It is dreaming big and is targeting to occupy $2-3 billion of the outstation market pie.
“After been funded, we expect to accelerate our growth in excess of 45-55% month-on-month” said Sanghvi, chief operating officer of OneWay.Cab to The Economic Times. The company has a customer base of more than 30,000 passengers and gets about half of its bookings from Gujarat and 40% from Maharashtra. It is expecting an annual revenue of $1million based on present business.
The prime contributing factor to higher market size is the high booking value of OneWay.cab and outstation trips as compared to intra-city rides which is approx. Rs. 100-200 in Category B cities. Inter-city car rental is mostly unorganized and fragmented as compared to intra-city space.
Capitalizing on Going Digital in Travel Industry
“Digitalization is transforming all industries and we have seen the impact of digital in intra-city travel,” said Gupta, the IAN investor inducted into OneWay Cab’s board. “Inter-city taxi (service) is a much larger market in India and it requires a very different mindset, organization and technology than intra-city. OneWay.Cab is best positioned in this space to tap the market,” to The Economic Times.
