Are you a Bollywood fan and follow the latest updates on upcoming movies, then Flickbay is one right place for you. Just one click and you can check out all latest Bollywood news and gossips. So, if you are a big fan of Bollywood and do not want to miss any update from Bollywood, Flickbay is a must have app for you.
Flickbay is mobile-based Bollywood discovery platform. The platform was founded by Trishant Sidhwani and Vishal Ramchandani, last year and backed by actor and movie director Farhan Akhtar. It is a Mumbai-based platform that provides news, songs, reviews, movies, trailers, ratings, box office collection and information about movies playing on TV. Here you also have the option to rate the movies and create your own watch list of films, songs, and trailers of the latest movies. Currently, the app is available for Android and iOS users and claims to have recorded more than 70,000 downloads just two weeks after its launch. A movie production house, Excel Entertainment, founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, incubated the startup. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are also stakeholders in the startup. The app is supported by many other Bollywood celebrities too. “There is an app for everything Bollywood”, says Director-Actor Karan Johar, on Twitter. Actor Anil Kapoor appreciates it by writing,“ Flickbay is changing the way people interact with entertainment content. No wonder it’s called Bollywood ka App,” on Twitter.
The startup has just raised $890,000 in seed funding from Paul Roy, chairman of Dubai-based Riva Digital. This was not the first time when the Bollywood industry has participated either as an investor or as an entrepreneur. Mobiefit, a fitness-centred mobile app, was launched by actress and activist Gul Panag. Also, actor and host Ranvijay Singh invested in IStyleYou, a fashion styling app. Muvizz.com, a curated movie-on-demand platform, is another company in the segment that has raised funds earlier from three Singapore-based investors.
“We plan to use the data generated from the app to help filmmakers make better, data-driven decisions. Based on user data and feedback, we will build on the existing features and introduce newer ones. Upon hitting a critical mass of users, we will open up the app for user-generated content and build a community around Bollywood”, said Trishant, in a techcircle.vccircle.com report.
