Byju’s is an online learning app founded by Byju Raveendran. The app uses different ways to make learning more interactive. They use original content, watch and learn videos and animations so that one learn it better and for a long time. They make learning contextual and visual, not just theoretical. Their basic philosophy is to let people fall in love with learning. They are India’s largest learning app in the primary and secondary education sector. They offer learning programs for 6-12 class student, and also for competitive exams like CAT, IAS, and GRE GMAT. They take chapter wise tests with detailed feedback and analysis. The platform has more than 3.5 million students.

Funding

The education startup announced raising $ 50,000,000  in a round co-led by The Chan- Zuckerberg Initiative, by Facebook Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, and Sequoia Capital, along with investors Sofina, Lightspeed Ventures, and Times Internet Ltd. In a report on english.manoramaonline.com, CEO Byju Raveendran says  “ it  is extremely encouraging to be the first company in Asia to be hacked by the Chan-Zuckerberg initiative. The new investments will definitely boost our aim to revolutionize they way students are learning across the world today by making them fall in love with learning.

Challenges ahead

“In our system, we are all getting trained to solve questions, but not to find them. Learning is driven by the fear of the exam rather than the love of learning. The focus is more than spoon-feeding, rather than encouraging children to learn their own. The challenge has always been around changing this perception”, says Byju Raveendran, according to a report on english.manoramaonline.com.

Future

The company is planning for their international expansion too. They will try to make the learning style more unique for every student. They will develop better and world class content that will let student explore different concepts. They work  on the principle of not only helping people for their academic exams, but in any exam of their life.
