Tokri is, Pune based, hyperlocal grocery delivery platform. The firm was founded, in 2015, by Neeraj Kansa, a B.Tech from Punjab University and Ishant Goyal, an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Tokri, operated by Orange Etokri India Pvt. Ltd, is a portal where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, and groceries. It delivers products at your doorstep. Besides that, they also deliver products including Kirana, cakes and bakery, snacks, sweets, personal care, flowers, gifts and pet food items. They are also planning to expand into the electronics and mobiles. The platform works with a hybrid model comprising marketplace and inventory and sources grocery from distributors, wholesalers, and neighbourhood stores. They also buy vegetables and fruits directly from farmers. One can place the order via app or from the website. The app also works in an offline mode. The order can be placed even without an active internet connection. You can receive your r order according to your time convenience. They have different time slots for convenient delivery. The first one is the slot-based delivery system. You can choose a slot for the delivery out of the four slots—two in the morning and two in the evening. And, the other one is on-demand delivery or bullet delivery, where you can get your order delivered in 45-75 minutes. But for bullet delivery, the order value should be Rs 500 or more.
Tokri has raised $2,500,000 from a pre-Series A round of funding from Syska LED group. Syska also committed putting in more money in the near future.
When there is so much of competition in the market, Tokri is fortunate to manage this funding. AAGAAR.com, GrocShop, and GetNow.at are some companies in the space that compete with Tokri in the segment.
The company plans to use the funding for improving technology and marketing and promotions. They will set up warehouses in Pune and other cities. Besides this, they will also focus on increasing the brand value. Keeping this in mind, they have already signed actress Shraddha Kapoor as their brand ambassador. Currently, the startup is doing around 200 transactions a day and aiming to reach the daily transaction to 400 and above.
