Love taking photos and sharing it? Vebbler is one app you must have in your mobile phone.
About the platform
Vebbler is a photo sharing mobile app. It is a Bangalore-based startup, founded by Sahil Bhagat, in June 2013.The platform first started out as a website but then shifted to mobile. The app allows users to share photos through groups called Clubs. It allows people to form spontaneous clubs. The users can also download selected pictures from the group. The platform works as private-community focussed social network. The startup claims to have more than 50,000 users. Currently, the app can be downloaded on Android and iOS.
Vebbler has raised $500,000 in a seed round of funding. The funding round was led via Lets Venture platform, by a group of 16 angel investors from different countries including India, Hong Kong, Singapore and the US. Anupam Mittal, Founder & CEO of People Group, Sharad Sharma Co-Founder of iSpirt, Pranav Pai & Siddarth Pai Founding Partners of 3one4 Capital, and Raju CEO of Kyron Accelerator were some of the leading investors participated in the funding round. “I think photos and videos are an increasingly powerful medium for communication that surpasses the limitations of language and geography, especially in a country like India. Vebbler has built a great platform to connect groups and provide them with a powerful tool to share and express themselves in new ways and that is very exciting to me,” said Sharad Sharma, reports inc42.com. In the same report, Pranav Pai states, “As early-stage investors, we enjoy working with founders of product companies because they prove, by personal example that the intersection of passion, capability, perseverance, and lateral thinking leads to impressive results. This is a young team that will try everything possible to work with their core users to arrive at the best solution, and that is a fantastic process to be a part of.”
Instagram and Snapchat are some other platforms in the segment that are strong competitors for Vebbler. Galleri5 is another startup that seems as Vebbler’s contender.
The company will use the funding for the expansion of their engineering team. Currently, they are working with around 15 people in their team. Apart from this, they plan to focus on marketing activities and enhancement of their product. The startup is also planning to introduce some new features to the platform.
