Menlo micro raises $18.7 million funding from GE Ventures

GE ventures today recently announced the launch of Menlo micro which is a new

drag out from GE’s global research center which reinvented one of the most

primary building blocks of electronic systems. ‘GE’s transformation to become the

world’s premier digital industrial company requires innovation at many levels

from software and analytical to sensing and connecting the physical and digital

worlds’, said Risa stack, General Manager for GE ventures. The Company is led by

CTO Chris Keimel, CEO Russ Garcia and President Product Development and

Marketing Chris Giovanniello.

‘With the creation of Menlo Micro and the scale up to the digital micro switch

technology GE will be able to accelerate its digital initiatives across many

businesses and healthcare to aviation to energy management and beyond’. The

company’s unruly Digital micro switch podium is strongly located to facilitate end

products serving multiple industry verticals which includeS today’s mobile

communications network to future next generation 5G mobile networks and IoT

markets. GE with its wide expertise in advanced materials ,high power system

designs, and MEMS processing has invested over last 12 years of R&D into the

digital micro switch technology creating over 60 patent families and series of GE

qualified DMS products. At the moment Menlo micro will focus on fetching this

revolutionary technology to the broader market mounting development of the

technology and its accomplishment athwart industries. The company also said

that it is utilizing advanced material science to provide power handling in

kilowatts series and superior electrical performance in a micromechanical device

which has speed, size, reliability and cost. This new device is aimed for such

applications like wireless base stations, electric vehicles, home automation,

medical instrumentation and battery management.
