Samsung, one of the leading manufacturers of smartphones in the world, has revealed that it would be launching its first ever 5G phone in 2019. The news came just weeks after the South Korea giant announced its ‘foldable’ phone. Looks like 2019 is going to be a big year for them!
5G has been the hot topic of discussion among smartphone enthusiasts for a long time now. Rumors had it that the several manufacturers, such as Oneplus, Motorola and Apple, are looking to bring out their 5G handsets at the end of 2018. However, this just remained a rumor and didn’t bear any fruit.
Samsung, however, has stepped up its game and made a bold move of announcing its most advanced device yet. The company would be providing more details about the same (a proof of concept) at the annual Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in Maui that would take place later this week.
Justin Denison, senior Vice president, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, said, “Samsung offers end-to-end solutions that are accelerating the wide scale adoption of 5G and help us realize our vision of truly connected living. We’re proud to work alongside innovative partners like Verizon and Qualcomm Technologies to deliver a smartphone that will fundamentally transform how people work and play.”
The device would most likely be launched during the first half of 2019. Samsung has partnered with Verizon, one of the largest provider of wireless products and services worldwide. The 5G device is expected to provide network speeds several times greater than that of today’s 4G.
